Puzzle

This series is inspired by a Vasarely puzzle that hung above my aunt and uncle's fireplace when I was a child. Every few months my uncle would take it down and change the pattern. It fascinated me that the barrier between art and viewer could be dissolved and that someone other than the artist was able to directly manipulate an artwork. Unlike the Vasarely, these paintings are not puzzles with separate parts, but I have made it possible for them to be hung in different orientations. Constructing them in such a way that someone has the option to choose an orientation is a way for me to facilitate the breaking of the barrier between viewer and work of art.
